Boating this Summer?
Now it's the Law! Effective September 15, 2009 anyone who operates a boat & motor of any size must carry a Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card. How does this affect you? If you have insurance coverage on your Watercraft and/or Watercraft Liability you must have the appropriate Operators Certification otherwise your insurance coverage will be jeopardized. Boaters can obtain their operators card after receiving a mark of at least 75% on a Canadian Coast Guard accredited test. For full details and a list of organizations that have accredited boating safety courses and tests visit the Canadian Coast Guard web site at www.ccg.gcc.gc.ca or call the Boating Safety information line at 1-800-267-6687. |
